How did it all start? Artisans Paul and Sherri Hanna were on a day-trip and saw some flowers made of plates and cups at one of their stops. They were "cute," so they thought they'd buy a few pieces of glass and try to make a few flowers for themselves.
The first thing they decided was that their flowers would NOT be glued together. All pieces would be drilled and bolted with cushioning between the glass layers for extra protection. After searching for components, they placed them in the weather for several months to see how they would hold up. When they were satisfied with that testing, they made their first flowers.
Each stem is bent by hand. The steel is not heated for the bending process so that its integrity is maintained, and fittings are welded. Concrete bases are also custom made and hand mixed.
Since that first "flower", The Hanna Company has evolved to providing products from small accent flowers to sculptures such as the 8-foot tall Christmas tree ("O Tannenbaum") and the whimsical "Tequila Rose".
